One Can Not

I'm less than perfect, an ode incomplete,
A shattered mirror laying at your feet,
I'm tarnished brass, a half remembered dream,
A sigh in the night, a dying mans' scream.

I'm null and void, an inkblot on the page,
The closed curtain upon the theatre stage,
I'm a stained carpet, the hole in your jeans—
—Intelligence by artificial means.

Forget you know me, disdain my pain,
In your make-believe world I'm the mundane,
Yea on pleasantries misspend not your breath,
I'm but a carcass, pure cerebral death.

One can not smile when there's no spark of life,
Aye one can not waltz to a tuneless fife.

Remember, if you're not part of the future, you're history!

And you dear poet are none of the above!
Have I told you lately how very much I love the way you write?
You have a gift Kevin...a wonderful talent for writing.

it is a song that rises from a bleeding wound
...or a smiling mouth.

Smiling at Passing Shadows...
Kevin,
Always such a startling discovery when I read your works.  In this case, I could not agree that the subject fits the author...
Peaceful wanderings,

well, after years of 'this'....I finally learned that one can smile when the song is directed higher, when all is dark and dreary, there is light from above

good write, you convey your feelings well
