It was there and bright one early morn That to freedom I was sworn Walls so high at forty feet Memories Are all I took To a station one early morn Race away, race away, race away To memories I return Confused and vague One early morn To people rushing for their lives Memories of warmer nights Lightning bolts Tremendous strikes Into love I would fight Dream away, dream away, dream away In some love I was born Early one winter’s morn Love away, love away, love away Now the running Has to stop Old legs are all I’ve got Myself still there Is my lot I raced away, I raced away, I ran From myself Now on ageing bone I lie In the twilight of the night Can’t run away, run away, run away Crawl away To Memory land |
