The Truth of Our Love

Blindly our lives searched for each other,
Like silk worms on weltering leaves.
Fate trapped us together in its scheming web,
Dangling our limp bodies like puppets--
A show to amuse the Gods.
We danced to the beat of pleasure and pain--
The eternal cure for sadness of the lonely;
We continued our passion until the dusk
And then our hearts showed us the truth,
With a mirror that mocked our sins.

Days seemed like years as we both wept in cocoons,
Sheltering our fragile memories from the rain—
But then the sun shone in the whitest light
And our past lifestyles shed old memories;
Beautiful are the butterflies that emerge---
Me the strong Monarch
And you the graceful Queen.
My new eyes shed crystal tears
Because never have you been more beautiful--
With fluttering wings we greet each other in laughter
Before flying away into an unknown but promising future,
For fate has redeemed itself within us
And never again will it test the truth of our love.

Marcel

WOW! Marcel, this is so beautiful! Into my library you go, cocoon and all. LOL, to re-emerge whenever I need to feel inspired by the renewal abilities of LOVE.

the universiality of the initial theme
and then the ending makes believe
you have been blessed with what many would give all and anything for- another chance
