Our boys, Toerag and LongJohn,
Had a job they found quite hard
Trying to measure the flagpole
In their little town's schoolyard.

A small tape measure was their tool
But, after hours, they found
It only went so high, then bent
And fell back to the ground.

Four hours they tried to get it up
(which was not a first for Toe)
But, though they did it carefully,
The darned thing wouldn't go.

Well, Balladeer was passing by
And saw the boys at work.
He had to laugh and say, "Good grief!
Toerag, you're such a jerk!!"

"There's a small pin on the bottom.
Pull it out and lay it flat.
Then, while the pole is on the ground
You can measure it like that."

"You think that we're both stupid!?!?"
Screamed out Toe with all his strength.
"We're trying to measure the height,
You silly moron, not the length!!"

Yes Balladeer it's just a matter of how you look at challenges.  And for some reason I feel that Toe and John will be up for this challenge.

believe in what your heart feels...

Such a lesson here, outside of razzing your great friends.  Perspective changes from any angle, location, understanding, situations.  One man's perspective is certainly never truly aligned with another...one of the aspects which make us all so "individual".

But of course, who could not see the humor in this?  I am sure the two compatriots will be back, soon enough, with volleys of their own!

And you walked along
With 'round your lips a smile
Knowing that your truth my Deer
Would pop in their minds after a while

I just love it when you're at your best Balladeer.

Cmon, Deer. Everybody knows that it is always longer when it is standing up than when it is just lying there!  Even Toe knows that!  BTW - Great story.
