A Picture of Canela |

This started as me showing off my talents to one of my friends. At a basketball game, she was talking about how she had to write a poem for an English assignment. I thought of this first stanza sitting there and recited it for her. I later added the last two stanzas. This is for the girl whom I call Canela (Spanish for "cinnamon"). She's such a sweet little thing. Your big brown eyes remind me of a quiet little fawn, Joy rises on your dear face like the early morning dawn, And I don’t know what I’d do if your sweet smile was ever gone. This picture of Canela makes a perfect poet’s song. You brighten up the darkest room whenever you walk in, You leave behind you colored blooms wherever you have been, Your presence is so peaceful, making happy times begin. This portrait of Canela flows well from a poet’s pen. My dear, you are as lovely as an open river vale, You make each day much better as you liven up life’s trail, And your nature is so perfect down to every last detail. This painting of Canela is a pretty poet’s tale. [This message has been edited by Strider612 (02-11-2004 07:40 PM).] |

Thanks, y'all. She is a dear little friend to me--the way I'd put it is, even if the poem is pretty, it's not half as much so as she is. |
