he was used to seeing you walk away just when you thought he could take the hint the dirty looks and messages on his machine had gone way over his head you couldn't remember better days hours on end spent driving to anywhere but home feeling the aura of the world around by keeping the windows down constantly reminding yourself how alive you were despite sullen soul punctured by tin needles of infidelity but he was used to seeing you that way goodbye notes written in your favorite lipstick crimson english and empty threats scribbled across memory of better days the flowers that sat on window sill wilted along with your love for living but never getting back the years spent with him was a pill much too large to swallow it seemed to him that you had always been this way the sunlight came crashing through the windows sleeping on the couch of a boring hotel room unsure of the state you were in was the way you liked it you felt you might as well have been lost in a literal sense while remaining a lost soul without direction an honest life spent on working for gas money waking every morning just for the the feeling of constantly driving towards absolutely nowhere a reminder that you had always been alive but i had always seen you that way [This message has been edited by skoolyardturtle (08-19-2005 01:03 AM).] |
