Not there for a friend

I know you care,
and I know that will never change.
You try not to hurt me,
but sometimes you fail.
You say you will always be there,
but on my most important day,
you weren't there.
Even though it hurts,
I won't say anything
but put a smile on my face
and say hey thats fine.
You'll never know how I feel
because you are my friend,
and I would never hurt you.
But maybe you'll be there next year.
