and they call it [love]
because...
well, because there
is no other
way to set this straight,
to make it clear.
i set myself in the
light of your eyes because
this is my response,
this is my
response to this hurt.
i won't apologize
for her because she is truly
beautiful.
now i know why your
smile looks shifted,
your eyes a little more
mysterious.
changes are seeping from
the corners of
your veins and you
want to stand there and
tell me to
…"wait this out?"
how dare you let nativity
get a hold of me.
and dear god,
i love you to death,
i do.
but she is under the same sky
as you,
she is there by your side
when i am separated
by this damn highway.
hold onto her,
[let go of me].
this is my attempt, this is
my attempt at
a final closure so we can
both go to bed
at night and...
sleep without either one
of us knowing how bad
this is hurting.
