the emphasis on physical appearance generates billions for Maybeline and Revlon sucking in teens with a poor self image who ache to belong somewhere beautiful spokeswomen from pop culture pull their victims in with promises and songs and the rest of us laugh at the advertisements while hiding behind our masks an air of indifference and naughty flip of the hair shields us by day yet we scour and pluck and apply ourselves behind closed doors blend away depression smooth over insecurities brush on an attitude all to hide ourselves from the world and thereby become socially acceptable until the day we realize we're as empty as the next girl [This message has been edited by Tequilia_Sunrise (10-24-2004 12:51 AM).] |

mmm...Poems like these always make me sit back and think...to once again go over myself and my image and wonder at all the insicurities I cover up...very well written, I liked the title it fit well... ~Live and Laugh~ Don't look to me for perfection for I will surely let you down. |

"yet we scour and pluck and apply ourselves behind closed doors blend away depression smooth over insecurities brush on an attitude all to hide ourselves from the world and thereby become socially acceptable until the day we realize we're as empty as the next girl" so true...so true... this poem is so thought provoking..enjoyed. ~Alli~ *:.AIM = Alli4000.:* My Journal |
