The opportune clock strikes at noontime, And twelve chimes march all in a line. I watch the arms go round and round! And listen to the clock's metrical sound. My heart sinks and present are my fears Every time its dull hands shift gears. All I hear is . . . tick-tock—tick-tock— I wonder why, oh why must it mock! This torment, this ridicule, this charade! Nothing more than a display—a parade! And every hour on the hour it roars! Yes! It roars to me the hour henceforth. It never lets up, nor will it ever end! I shall suffer its efforts again and again. I curse the wretched clock ticking away, And ask what it might be trying to convey. The ever persistent clock whispers to me: "Get up and go outside! There you'll see!" We see much, observe little, and perceive less. |

Great job here. As much as I can't understand the ending I REALLY liked the poem. Musings about time always interest me, this poem makes people think, I like it. and i'm certain that if i drive into those trees, it would make less of a mess, than she's made of me... |

Very different. A little odd, but not in a bad way. I have one written on a personified clock as well... I found it amusing that someone else had the same idea. |
