There is a wake, left behind Swirling purple-deep A mothers tears could not compare A wake of lost humanity, a wake lined with devastatistics We are what we are And we kill what we choose Ditches lined with loved ones Roadways, set aside for the fallen An ocean would form, if it weren’t for this smile Be what you must, confusing those who bleed In the wake of what was never meant to last Here lies the murders head You’re safe, until you open up You’re fine, until you’re secure enough Destruction, this black inserted into reality This is the face, a broken shard, wrapped in telephone cord Listen to the booming symphony An opera of famous deaths Presidents on presidents Residents vs. residents The deep drums burst and the trees all leave They huddle into a corner of this emptiness Leaving a place for us to spread our hollow In the wake of the murders cry, wipe the glass shard from your eye “Lip stick stains”, oh broken pride “Perfume wreak”, devastated this time The cosmetic mix, makes this okay… Smile for your misery Laugh for this tragedy Exhale, because it’s all a joke Breathe as deep as you want You can’t inhale the gun smoke Hold someone close They cannot make this choice dissipate Faded in this bruising wake, is the face of everything that we delete Destroy who we can’t be A dead body becomes it’s sheet The chosen ones, who’re left at murders feet Rocked and stoned Doomed but grown Lock and load Pay more for tomorrow Forget everything for today Left in this murders wake Today is painless, because we chose it Tomorrow we cannot quite decide Left in this murders wake… |

This is an awesome piece of poetry Mad_hatter, my fav line is Destruction, Black inserted into reality and the line after it. Hollow I linger in the shadows, I breathe when I see you. |
