there’s a hole in autumn that nothing can fill a bottomless well of rainwater and time murky with summer’s moldering dreams and hours that drift in watery sleep it’s a vacuum that sucks birdsong and green, moonstone stars, the rattling breath of unleaving trees pours them out as black river water bricked with silence and lined with the patina of verdigris the well sinks deeper into the amber of autumn and fossilized remains |

the wonderful thing about being a poet is that you evoke so many emotions and feelings... and you did that! So much light and shade in this... it was terrific! and when you read it, it seems to bring forth many different feelings... that is the key to a great poem there’s a hole in autumn that nothing can fill a bottomless well of rainwater and time murky with summer’s moldering dreams and hours that drift in watery sleep excellent! It's better to be a lion for a day than a sheep all your life. |
