herbal tea, throat lozenges wastepaper baskets puffy and weightless filled with tissues aloed and lotioned - a rain forest died for my drippy red nose. a fever bed with fist pummelled pillows that lost their cool side three days ago stuffed with down gone lumpy flat and goose feathers that poke through ticking and stick into my bed head and the lines of my pillow scarred cheek. linen as droopy white as a surrender flag semaphores to the world the virus has claimed another victim buried alive under a pile of tossed and turning quilts and coverlets in a sickroom shrunk by weariness down to the size of a flu bug.
