I wanna go back to the cave of my childhood Where I wanted nothing more than to escape I wanna see you playing across the street A glimmer of hope in my face The months grew ears Everything exploded at my grin A car accident to the curb Never saw it coming Now its all too clear Everything is near, everyone so far The world’s just another tear We hoped for better We saw more We prayed for heaven We ate the dirt The trees look so pretty in the autumn The snow so sweet in the winter The spring brings a blossom And the summer swims in pools But always too hot, warm, cold and too clear Tornadoes a’brewing on my plain We built a house on a hill We crafted our own tools We opened our eyes Blinded by the sun And were swept away And burnt a ton Don’t you tell me ‘bout dem dreams You’re saying they have left the horizon Where everything gleams Like a fresh penny or a silver dollar You have your doubts But we are free To wait and sip tea As the world sputters along As you smile another day Floating away, away, a way… |

I love the child like innocence you talk about in this poem. It paints such a beautiful and moving picture. Your struggle to achive that innocence again is also very powerful especially at the end of the poem. Much enjoyed! |

Thanks Sorrow - I am delighted that you enjoyed it - I was just curious what in particular at the end (stanzas?) you were referring to - I have been puzzling over it for a few days |
