River of Tears I want to have my heart broken just to prove, only once, that it’s been held by someone else/ but I’ve always been too busy looking searching for someone to take it out of my shaking hands to even see the faces, the ground around me/ and the closest I get to heartbreak is when I trip over myself/ stumble into everything again/ and when I drop my heart on the unseen ground that I just fell over and onto, when I kneel in the dark to pick it up, alone again/ I can’t find pain- it’s this dull, incomplete ache that can’t build into the hurt I want so badly/ I want it- I want to feel, to understand/ I want all these things and maybe that’s my problem, because it’s all about me until I can’t remember what it is you want what I could give to you, if you’d take me/ could you take this knife I’ve been sharpening my whole life study it quietly, as I take you hand and just cut straight through me?/ soften me; build me up with falling wishes and cut away these aching empty places/ could you run your fingers down my skin and before I finish shivering dig into me so deep, and listen to me scream/ I’ll watch your hands, just let me scream- I need it, for my heart’s been dropped one too many times, onto the unclean ground/ and it will settle for nothing less than a river of tears to wash it all away/ |

wow. so much is expressed in this. all i can say is wow. i know the feeling, ill tell you that much. so it strikes my heart all the harder. ~~Poetry is written emotion~~ |
