I was angry once, when there was someone to be angry with. I came home that day to see my friend, who with knowing eyes asked, "why did you leave?" Any other pair would not have been so in tune with one another's hearts, but we knew perfectly well what we were talking about, and so I said I left because it isn't practical to believe in him anymore and the cost is too high. That's a copout, he said, and it was a predictable response. You can't keep lying to yourself about being better than everybody else because you believe in this pie in the sky His words, not mine. And he was right. That's why I left. |

I'm not sure I fully understood this piece, But I very much enjoyed it all the same. It kind of left me wanting more. The last two lines were really effective, but I think my favourite was the very first line. To me, it conveyed a kind of bitter disillusionment, but I could be just reading into it! Anyway, very interesting write. |
