Today, today, today…
Is but the first of many
I open my eyes to darkness
Coldness wraps its arms around me
My Sun has gone away

I face my day and try to be strong
Nature brings me no joy, its color faded
All is washed in grey
The birds sing but they sound so faint
Drowned out by the weeping of my heart

The love I have lost, the trust I have destroyed
My Angel that I have forsaken
How can this be? This twisting of fate
Time is now my enemy
The past, which can’t be undone

I was her knight
Her hero so true
And now a source of strife
My stallion has grown weary
My armor shines no longer

The pain I feel…wisdom it becomes
For mistakes are made to learn from
Though she can never be mine
The joy we’ve given each other is…
It wraps my heart in an eternal hug

Time and I are enemies no longer
As I stroll down the lane of memories
I cry not for the things I have lost
But smile for the paradise I’ve experienced
I shall cherish it forever

Protected by the past, now a shield
The dreams we shared become immortal
A vibrant rainbow filled with delight
It lights a path thru the darkest storms
To the heavens it leads, where the sun…her smile…is still warm and bright

Yes, wow, so sad but so uplifting like venus said. I liked this though, I liked how you set this up to start out sad yet be filled with hope towards the end. It was a very good job on your part.

"Time and I are enemies no longer
As I stroll down the lane of memories
I cry not for the things I have lost
But smile for the paradise I’ve experienced
I shall cherish it forever"
"

One of my favorite stanzas in this poem, that is if I had to choose. There are so many good ones in this that it is very hard to decide one over the other. Yet, this one just made me smile!

Btw, Welcome to piptalk! I hope you enjoy the site

Beautiful poem. I love the way you brought light and hope into the darkness.

A vibrant entrance post.

Made me think of the path less traveled, and how all journeys are predestined.
The wilderness is pure joy.

Hoping to welcome you back to Passions.
