As she stood puffing on her smoke The icy wind whipped at her face She peered longingly through the frost framed window She watched her family as they sat in the love warmed kitchen She watched as her mom and her aunt chuckled at a joke only sisters could share She watched as her dad amused a captive audience Of cousins and friends She watched as the children wove their way through adult leg mazes She watched as each and every family member basked in the warmth She stood outside shivering, peering into loves glow A single solitary tear leaked from her eye As it traced an icy path down her cheek, The thought struck her, she is, was, and always would be, Looking in From the Outside |
