A Religious Debate

There were these men I once knew
A Christian, a Muslim and a Jew.
All righteous men of God you’d say
Who did argue with each other all day.

Each swore his book had no worthy rival
The Torah, the Quran and the Holy Bible.
And each vowed their prophet was the last
Of all holy men for ages past.

And the Muslim would go to his mosque
The Christian to church, the Jew to Synagogue
Each to pay homage in their own way
To the very same God that we all pray.

“So friends”, said I “why argue all day
About books and prophets and places to pray
Each of you believes in the same things
That to society, peace and harmony brings”.

“Let each person choose his own way
To talk to his God in what manner he may
And lets all unite in the belief that we expect
To treat each other with dignity and respect.”

For so often have I heard this said
By those who are so selflessly led
The best service to humanity itself
Is to “keep thy religion to thyself”.

Aah yes...very well said...

Too many times "religion" gets in the way of faith and God.......instead of interpreting your Godly book, (most folks these days are more interested in being a good Baptist/Muslim/Catholic etc....)it would be a far better world if we'd all just be brothers in a Godly way......How some proclaimed "Christians" can interpret their Bible in the ways they do is scarey...as some Muslims interpret the Quran....suicide bombers-killing of innocent people....so called "Christianity" as in Jim Jones and other such cults?....When things like the World Trade Center/911 happen, and hatred overcomes reasoning....we need to realize that all "faiths" have their idiots and radicals......I wrote one for you...about faith...

Amen!  Hallelujah!  Right on!

Great, great poem!

I'm for humanity!  My belief:  Inside, we all know what is right, so just do it and stop judging!

(big angel hugs in standing ovation) Oh Anwaar, you are infinitely so right, truly these religions have something so closely in common: we believe in Something, some Holy Spirit, we are all monotheistic, and truly I feel all the Holy Spirits are One! (smiles) God Bless You, your words edify us all and should edify the whole world over, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Anwaar, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton
