This came about when I was listening to the radio. They were speaking of the people in Africa. When their people die it is likened to a library being burned. For people have so much to share in their life and when they die all their adventures are lost if not passed down to the next generation. Hope you enjoy Love Bon-Bon Death of A Library of Wealth She sits by the fireside, her eyesight almost gone. Her face weathered and wise from days gone by. She tells of when she was a young girl- The old log cabin, listening to the big cats, as they come down from the mountains in early spring. Only seeing her nearest neighbor when the flowers began to bloom. Treasure this gift passed on to you children- Share this library of wealth so it will not die. The old man sitting , rocking in his favorite chair-Smoking a pipe he has carved from a precious wood. This man telling his grandchildren of the days when he was a wild young cowboy. How he once met Jesse James and his brother by the name of Frank. Nasty outlaws who would steal the gold from your teeth if you weren’t careful. Telling of the nights when cattle rustlers attacked his camp and how they stole the whole herd. Lucky to be alive he would say, then smoke and rock, smoke and rock. Treasure this gift passed on to you children- Share this library of wealth so it will not die. Look at the gifts you have to share- Pass these treasures into your future. Imagine in a few years the stories you can share. How man took his first steps on the Moon. How man is now looking at pictures from Mars. How as a child you may have set near the radio with abated breath, as you listened to story of The Shadow, for the television was not invented when you were a child. Take the time with your daughter or granddaughter- Showing her the art of making bread or how to crochet a small piece of lace. Show your son or grandson how to make a fishing pole from wood and string or how to slam dunk a basketball- So he can beat his best friend just once. Children............ Share this library of wealth so it will not die. Love Bon-Bon |

BonBon -- Great post! This was something we were discussing just the other day -- about the culture in the West! I agree totally with your lovely poem! |

Very nice words Most these days are only interested in the next 15 minutes of stardom YOu capture something we should prize and that we can learn Only problem is that we lock away the library in an old people's home, bleed them financially, abuse them and degrade them Dave |

Hello Dave I hear you. As soon as our elderly become ill I hear, lets put them in a home. I weep for our elderly. As for me I kept my mom home, in her own home, until she died. She had the fear even as a young woman of being put away and my promise to her was, do not worry I always keep you safe. She had Parkinson's and Alzheimer's. So it was not an easy road to follow. Glad you enjoyed my words. See Ya Bon-Bon |
