Come 3 AM
And half the flowers are stark
In the black white dim
And I
Finger softly the edges
Of phrase you left in mind
With such an easy graceful
Slip of vowels…

An “a” held half beat longer
Than staccato
And two beats shorter than a drawl
They flowed across your tongue
Until I was
caught in the currents
Pulling me
From this someplace I was
Ten minutes ago
To the place I spin in now

I still turn my head
And look
When I smell that scent
Wondering if it is you
Knowing it is not

You’re back in his world
Trying to laugh
Attempting to find acceptance
Without denial

And this skyline
Is now dark
With the other half of the flowers
Fading in coming dawn

But tell me
Was the taste of it
That one night
Enough?

Does the question need to be answered?

Great write, a good reading experience.

Well done Captain..
Enjoyed the thoughts behind this..
and to answer your question..."Is it ever?"

Attempting to find acceptance

Is there such a thing?
Like the water...your words haunt me lovely.

It never is!

Are you making 'fun' of the way we talk?

To answer the question on behalf of the reader?

NO!

Smiling...your tenderness in passing thoughts
such as these
is always apparent, and always touching...

smiling and nodding with Jan--but--I think it best to include the preceding line:

Trying to laugh
Attempting to find acceptance
Without denial

Yep, we know this place, don't we m'twin?

stretching and smiling, it's soooooooo good to wake up to you!

De-ja-vu in between Realities and fantasies...  I imagine the only rationalization might be that this human experience would be too monotone without such haunts...

This stanza especially:

I still turn my head
And look
When I smell that scent
Wondering if it is you
Knowing it is not

Full of relate and rich with your style, Ron...  very nice write.

Very cool write Ron, and methinks on nights like those, one is never enough.

Ron, this is simply a step beyond....beautiful stuff.

And this

"I still turn my head
And look
When I smell that scent
Wondering if it is you
Knowing it is not"

...took me to a very special place indeed.

You write what I'm going to call 'relax' poetry...your words are soothing, your delivery is soft and sexy..I feel like I need a cigarette.

"I still turn my head

The power of scent...I do know this.

And this is yet another I missed...and I am glad I went searching...this one I save.
