Listening to my Pencil

You are indigo you are blue
wrap the sun in color you

In the fabric of the night
an owl lingers
rolling eyes around
a single whisper found

Circles circles blessed be
in wrap of time
never free

Teeter totter child life kissed
the heavy part is pain
the light is bliss

In the middle where you sit
a child remembers
pain got off
and it was bliss in place high all around
that was sent down heavy on the ground

You would rather hold
the heavy place alone
the seat on top empty
replaced with stone
than hit the ground so hard again

A sin?

So many truths
light up then dim
and all the pretty things within
change charge drain
and fill to empty once again

I am just a traveler looking for a home, finding I carry it around with me, and sometimes it's just too heavy.

Oh, I've been in those seats...the top whiplash and the bottom crash when the weights were so uneven...

I'm glad you decided to post this. It moved me at the first brush and it moves me now.

Good to see you back, dear lady.

This is a really interesting and thought-provoking poem. I love the analogy here.

Very thought provoking.  I think I am going to go feel empty for a while.

Poems like this feed my soul, and I woke up hungry...now I am sate...
enjoyed very much your sparse use of language , yet never leaving a puzzle anywhere in the poem....:-)

"...fill to empty...."

That image is going to be with me for a long, long time. I too know that less-than-empty, though I'm much less familiar with it than you have been. If I could change that, I would.

Martie - a powerful look inside leading to ponderous thoughts and feelings - this reall digs deeply and says so much - as usual your poetry wraps my soul and takes me on powerful journeys - Paul
