The misty fog swirls
I am fearful, each step I take
Lost, in the ethereal vapor
Accompanied
by eerie magic
of the autumn moon~

A vine enshrouded pathway
Seems like a peaceful
resting place~

But the path
Secluded and dark
even unforgiving...
trying to stop anyone's entrance
into the enchanted glen~

The fog slowly rolls away
revealing the old oak tree
known once
as the lover's tree
Lover's once human
Now forever, a part of the tree
Bound within the sap and bark~

I watch
the gentle sway of the limbs
and think of lover's caressing
bodies entwined...
The lover's dance
soon over~

As I turn away
head toward home
Feeling ashamed
That I witnessed
the lover's dance...
while watching
the old oak tree
in the woods~

Vivid imagery.  Lovelly poem.  Love how tightly the visual tapestry is woven.

This poem brings two responses from me -- the sheer enjoyment of a beautifully conceived and written poem, and the hope that you are back to stay, so there'll be more.

Susan~
This is astoundingly vivid with imagery~

Just yesterday afternoon I watched the oaks do the dance ... and you've written perfectly what I was edperiencing~
