A fish hooked on a line that was not cast
A puppet on strings that nobody grasped
Hypnotised
Mesmerised
Movements unsynchronised
Follow the scent of a rich brown hair
Savour the taste of a pale blue stare
Vision trembling
Memories tumbling
Caught unawares in the gaze of a sun
Shining for no-one
A terrible thirst teased a drop at a time
Begin assembling
What lies within
To be torn in a flurry of images
Seeing only one like a snowflake
That melts in your hand

Leaving you alone
Alone in the snow
With only pictures of faces
Happier places
Long ago.

Making sense is overrated
