Behind The Shimmering Veil

Yes I’ve been here,
behind the shimmering veil of afterlife,
looking out at you,
wishing you could see me, too,
knowing you cannot, in reality.
No, I could not . . . touch you,
but feel I did your beating heart,
your quickening breath,
the way you longed for me,
as you lay in bed . . . sleepily.
Yes, I loved you
when our hands could hold our hearts
and share our souls within it’s perfect warmth . . .
I loved you then . . . and love you now
from the wispy mist you see
before your sleepy eyes. . .
I loved you then,
as I will love you in your dreams.
