I Only Want To Know

I don’t want to be reminded
Of what happened in Aurora,
Of the time we couldn’t spend
Together and in person here.
I don’t want to be reminded
Of the plans that wouldn’t work,
Of the things
We couldn’t do together here.
It seems as if I feel
The straining tension and the turmoil,
The frantic desperation of your flight.
It makes me sick
That Colorado didn’t work for you …
And more than you will ever know,
It breaks my heart how you’ve been treated.
And I have had enough of tears.

I only want to hear good news.
I only want to hear
Of the angel city by the sea.
I only want to know
That the crisis is resolved,
That Susan sees her aunt again,
That Sara laughs with Erika again,
That we can chat in real-time voice on Internet,
That a Midnite sun shines brighter than EVER …
And together we still float in outer space,
Where Earthly Time and circumstance don’t matter,
Where spirits float and souls connect,
And brilliant comets streak and flash,
Where we can watch the birth of stars.
Why … we might even go to Mars!
Let’s see … Think I was supposed to take you.
And we can then report to NASA
What is really going on out there.
After so many disappointments here
I want to make it up to you.
Will you still read me the ethereal news?
