You seem like someone out of the past.
Maybe it's your smile.
Maybe it's that dream I had
I wanted so to last.

I have watched the flower grow,
and watched the blossoms die,
pressed the petals in my books,
I look at them and cry.

So, no roses, valentine,
I can't press more memories.
I'd rather take what you can give
that you can give for free.

If you want to give me something fine,
Something that will last,
Spend yourself on me.
When I need you, hold me fast.

Iliana

iliana, I really like this. I agree, too...
it's so much better for your Love
to give you themselves, and their heart,
than material things.

"spend yourself on me, when I need you, hold me fast".....so well put,,,the money wasted on a bauble,,,,flowers,,,,,,etc,,,,means nothing,,,compared to the arms of the one you love holding you tight,,when you need it most,,,,,,,great write

Sweet....That's what a valentine really is, a promise to do just this. Beautiful stuff, and a perfect way for this fellow to start his day. Thank you

Very well expressed, iliana!  It's easy to read with good imagery and rhythmic flow.

I appreciated your comments about my posts, but think you will like it even better if you re-read it-i've changed it a bit.  Let me know what you think.

Gotta go.  Keep up the good work!

So true, you quickly see the thorns of those roses when they are memories!

Everything at a price. Very nice and very apt

What man,  in his right mind...

would not do just as you have asked,  after
reading such a romantic statement as this!
