Beachcomber dreams fill my restless nights
as gnarling traffic screams past city windows
too bright with glaring street lights
that give me migraines and drain my energy,
sucking the very soul from my body.

But I can transport myself,
to sandy shores over the Rockies,
to rest upon soft spongy mosses
under towering trees that beg me
to supplicate on bended knee
in praise of nature’s beauty.
My heart beats in synchronicity
joyfully to the sounds of the sea.

It won’t be long now.
I am counting the days.
An added bonus to the return to the sea
will be a chance to see a kindred spirit
who has captured the imagination of me,
as he holds out a hand in warmest 3D reality.

So as you can see,
I am not drained of my inner spirit here.
I’m just a temporary captive
of space and circumstance,
and those are things I choose to take control over.
I will not fall victim to a ‘fate’ that doesn’t suit me,
for I believe it is a gift from a higher entity,
to choose my destiny.

Wow, Kacy...

I think you're even more homesick than I am...it sure makes for powerful writes, though!  Thank you!

Kacy, I understand this completely!! when the circumstances of life get to be to much, isn't it a pleasure to be able to transform ourselves somewhere else? This reminds me of some of the poetry I write about being in the clouds floating around. Sometimes being somewhere else in our minds helps our inner beings. don't you think?

A very thught provoking write, my friend. I really liked it!!

Yes...love it,especially the way you ended it.To often I've blamed others for my current fate when it is true that where, what and who I am is really up to me.Like the way you view it as a gift,a most positive attitude and inspiring write.

But you're already there! LOL, thanks friend! Actually, I was wondering where you are? would be nice to know if its close to where I'm heading, which is SOMEWHERE along the Pacific. LOL, am aiming for the Olympic peninsula, or within two states either way.
LOL, I am such a gypsy!

Midnightsun
Excellent poetry, Kacy
Strong will and individual determination expressed in my favorite art form...
Your last statement (stanza) is most profound and reminds me of this..(and is just as poetically sound)

"It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul."
(Invictus..William Ernest Henley)

I particularly like the way you weave nature into the tapestry of this poem...

"My heart beats in synchronicity
joyfully to the sounds of the sea."

Very nice indeed.....thank you for sharing your thoughts
