It almost seems I know you-
And yet I never will.
I know I'll never have you...
I find I love you still.

The heart of man is foolish-
Decisions we all rue.
And still we make the same mistakes,
So sad, yet surely true.

Tonight we'll walk together,
On the white South Padre sand.
A pair of star-struck lovers,
Just walking hand and hand.

You have a thousand faces,
A hundred thousand names...
Familiar, yet a stranger.
I know this sounds so strange.

I'll love you in my dreams at night
And yet by light of day.
I'll know it's but a fantasy...
Yet love will find a way...

A way to capture, keep me
Enthralled by dreams of you.
They tell me I can't love you,
That simply is not true.

Sometimes the fantasy is much better than the reality would have been...

No one can tell us who to love,
or how to love, or when to love.
Whether we keep it to ourselves or
shout it from the roof top.
We only have to answer to our heart!

Thanks for your poem, I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.
Happy New Year to you,  Gunslinger~

John, I think this is one of your best poems, ever.  This one needs to grace a book.  If you are not prone to getting yourself published, if and when we ever do another Passions anthology, I hereby request you submit this

Happy New Year, John!

Thank you all very much. And I did self-publish a small book last year, Sunshine, however aside from a few friends I sold few of them. Thanks anyway.
