I prepare for months to come 'Till I have nothing left; Christmas dawns and yawns too quick And I am then bereft. Excitement turns to fatigue And riches into rags; I feel adrift, lost, confused Among empty gift-bags. The new year looms just ahead, Uncertainty too sheer, I know not what to expect. Yet, I do flood with fear. I can't explain this queer dread, Nor can I shake it off. As if it were some winged pest, I am the light to moth. Ah well, it seems I must wait To see what will come next. Instead of hexed, I will pray 2004 be blessed! Copyright ©2003 Bonnie Burns Hayes [This message has been edited by Morcastlin (12-28-2003 11:23 AM).] |
