I stand here by the ocean
My feet stuck in the sand
He whispers sweet I love yous
As he gently takes my hand.

He gently kisses me on on my cheek
And puts his arms around my waist
But then the tears start falling
They roll right down my face.

I told him it was over
And then pushed him away
I started walking towards my car
I said I couldn's stay.

He called to me and pleaded
"Baby, please don't leave."
I simply turned and pointed
To the lipstick on his sleeve.

He didn't even look at it
He knew that it was there
He just kind of looked at me
And ran his fingers through his hair.

He didn't make excuses
He didn't say a word
He knew that it was pointless
He knew that I had heard.

I had heard
About their meetings in the night
I'd heard that once I was gone
It was her that he held tight.

This time
When I turned to walk away
He didn't try to stop me
There was nothing he could say.

He did say he was sorry
And that he had been wrong
But it didn't matter
Because, I was already gone.

Sometimes that's all you can do. It's all uphill..always, and forever trying to make things right when they can't be.

wow, are you really 16? i just turned 17 on christmas day...it's great to see another young passionate poet. writing grows us up eh? ;Þ

joy has its own justice. and dreams are languid and lawless. and everything bows to beauty, when it's fierce and when it's flawless...
