Just For A Moment

A warm fireplace,
the aroma of fresh baked cinnamon bread,
and
joyous laughter filling the soothing perfumed air.
Another year has past and we meet with old friends
and greet the new.
An old friend I do see-
A light embrace, I close my eyes just for a moment.
That same old feeling surrounds me once again,
a feeling of coming home invading my weary heart.
Your distinctive masculine fragrance of soap and Old Spice,encircling my delicate nostrils, compelling me to reach out
and touch your warm strong hands,
just for a moment.
I gaze in your direction and drink in your essence
with hungry, yearning eyes.
You stand with sparkling eyes of blue,
look about the room,
and touch me with a gentle smile,
just for a moment,
then move on looking for another.
The mask I wear holds a brilliant smile and fills the room with brightly colored laughter.
This false gaiety once again hiding the breaking heart held within.
Another year will pass
and a light embrace I will receive,
and
Just For A Moment
I will have the peaceful feeling
of coming home once again.
