i once loved someone so much
that we never called it that
she had green eyes
and we slept in a hammock
we climbed a dead tree
every summer
and we ate pb and j sandwiches
i was wild
and she was not
i once knew someone so well
that we never said im sorry
she had a smile to block the sun
and we slept on the beach
we spent a week together
every summer
i once carried someone so well
that we never fell down
she had ballet arms
and we slept in faded photographs
we forgot to say goodbye
every summer

joy has its own justice. and dreams are languid and lawless. and everything bows to beauty, when it's fierce and when it's flawless...

We forgot to say goodbye, altogether.

Thanks for bringing back good memories to go with the ones I left my own poem with.

this is so tender...
it is strong, loving, but so sad...
I love it for its beauty, and the story, thank you.

Always, Alyssa
