Earth hurries to my side
Her quill painting firelight
Dancing on the air with excitement
Shafts of sunlight in assembly
Footprints of endurance dreams
Through moccasins of promise
Where blazing arrows balance the air
With their tails on fire carrying a magic gift
Unrolling the mat of comfort while groping my mind
Just a Shaman singing

I thought the distance shall pass by eventually
Composing songs, spring cleaning the breeze
Growing amazements out-stretched & grinning
Day shimmering furiously, with not even
The slightest breath of wind gathering embers
Just a Shaman singing

Surrounding hurried minds, in the path of mountains
Where ancient times live or’r the land, causing
Great floods of dreams…in marsh grass on shore
Swirling into shoals of long ago…smooth directions
Edge our village, with figurines of lifelike oaks
Bulging with a powerful source knowing all the loon’s songs
Just a Shaman singing

All foliage stays awake in perpetual night
Where the full moon and stars form powers of speech
There are no enemies, only friendly brothers who’ve made mistakes
Increasing in numbers, dumbfounded with fears
Listening for the Shaman singing

But as days reassembles, so to, does the anxious ones
Killing death and loosing none
Simple now, the sun volunteers taking credit
Buying a popular monopoly…providing symbolic sacred stones
From the deepest caves on the moon.

Where the Holy Man grows stars in the night
Deliberately holding miracles for that special time of birth
Only he knows when it becomes ripe…
Then, yellow & white corn gives permission to the spirit legends
Compilations of a source transcribed, the collector linked to mythology
Near the edge of the lake of descriptions, enhancing lonely spots
Where terror dreams…until a young wild cat chases away
Any dew, left from winters snow…and a great tree spews sugar maple
Bubbling with life, to a land beyond the sky
Teaching us the trail of life and the need for it’s center
Where balance scurries across the ground
Of mother earth…while the Holy Man grows stars in the night
And the Shaman leaves behind his evening meal

There are many kinds of shaman. I'm glad yours was a holy man. Sometimes they are not holy at all.
