Keeping this secret is getting harder each and everyday
But keep it I must, for there just is no other way
To let it out, would only cause needless hurt and pain
So instead I lock it deep inside, I just wish for once it didn't have to rain

I had to find out the truth for myself, but he wouldn't understand
Amazing when I think about it, my entire destiny is held in the small palm of my hand
Tears fall down my cheeks, but I don't cry out openly where anyone can hear
I just brush away what seems an endless amount of tears

I'm not really strong, I just carry on from day to day
This secret is worth it though--much more than I can say
I know they say the truth will set you free, but not with he and I
Remembering simple times when I was just a kid, and he was just my Dad...I sigh

If ever he finds out what I've done, I truly won't know what to do
For now though I won't give away a single clue
So now I'm not really strong or very brave
This is just something I must take to my grave

***A few weeks ago I found my biological father (it's a very very long story) but I was adopted at the age of six and for as long as I can remember I've wondered about my bio family and past. However, I'm unable to tell my adopted Dad, because I know it would devestate him, and I can't bear to bring him that kind of pain. I had to do this for me though.***

if you chase it,
it will surely fly away,instead
hold it close and watch it grow into
something beautiful"

Amy, living and dying with secrets is not fair to anyone, especially you.

I am happy that you've found your biological father...being adopted myself, I have always wondered but never knew where to start.

This should be a happy time for all of you. Your adopted dad raised you and will always be dad in your eyes...I do believe in honesty...

the father-daughter bond is strong. I don't think the truth would break that bond...consider opening up.

Good luck to you lady, I am praying.

And what will keep him
from seeing this poem?
I understand, but some
secrets just don't stay
hidden very well, do they?
Good luck, dear.
