I looked up at the stars tonight-
It's hard to realize...
The awesome distances between-
What seem close in our eyes.

The sun that shone today, you know
Has traveled quite awhile-
Why it was probably on it's way,
When Moses was a child.

There is something fatalistic-
When I think upon these things...
Like we are merely objects-
That precocious fortune flings.

To sail our own direction-
It seems we rarely turn...
We merely lose momentum-
Then we finally crash and burn.

So ere the comet vanishes-
In flame which gave it birth...
I trust your path's a glorious one...
While streaking toward the earth.

You're so right John. There is much in the universe to ponder.
