have been writing so much less lately, until today, now I'm running amok again! Forgive me. *blush*

Travel by Chinook

took a Chinook walk
today
sometimes it took me,
sometimes it held me
in the warmth of it

splaying dust, debris, leaves
in my face
threatening my eyes

yet toying with my hair
teasing it to stand on end
giving the sense of a summer drive
in a roadster
at top speed

strange,
I walk but three miles per hour
yet was combed and brushed
erratically
akin to sixty

grasses fall prone
to its power
then rest erect
perhaps taking tiny breaths
before another onslaught

almost violent
are its moves about me
about our town
yet soothing, invigorating,
kindling a form of indescribable comfort

I am at a loss to explain

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

It was that very wind that drew me to live where I do, and I'm in paradise every time it blows.

Paradise with allergies from the 50,000-year-old pollen of extinct desert plants, but paradise anyway.....
