Reluctantly waiting expectant, but unnoticed the stress, eating him alive another long draw another slow exhale another uneasy glance a twitch of finger a drop of ash and the frustration takes him pacing pacing back and forth three steps forward three steps forward turns in between Reluctantly waiting expectant, but unnoticed nervousness, driving him mad and he finds the wall he finds the clock he finds the hands a sweat bead races the small hand tick tick tick drip tump ta-thump tump ta-thump his heart a small engine of regret and denial the lights click out a point of flame with one last draw and a disgusted flick accompanies his departure starting up her car she drives away knowing that it's killing him she watches from the shadows |
