I digest the clocks like tiny white pills
washed down with dark brooding.

The doors are open, scabs of light smite
the cresting carpet waving over the blue sky.

My scared fingers cramp on distant tunes
played in melodious pinks for you to fall into.

My heart heaves with the time, my lungs
barely breath in your scent, my eyes burn to recall your face.

As if forgetting to tell you I love you, my mind races
to recount your final wave that scattered me like drift wood.

Chocolate tints move my lips to speak, words tumble
like wet boulders crawling down my chin, I strain to hear.

If only I could replay the smell of your first smile, the mood
of your walk, how red your eyes became when I said I needed you.

And once you became mine, I wore you like a skin
so I could kiss your scent in tune with my pain.
