Kansas Climes

The winds are curling in the norther,
have you ever seen leaves fly horizontally?
Kansas is kicking up her heels
a last visage of sun appears
         as November leaves, flying south
                  wave goodbye.

Naked limbs are curling, cold,
and the birch gleams white without her green.
Assume a fetal position, I think,
that will be the only way
         to keep warm
                   wave goodbye.

I remember your smile, safe,
          the winds are curling still,
you curved the sound of my smile
without a touch
          as you left, going south.
                    Wave goodbye.

And so it goes, while we persevere the warmth we hold dear.

It's a blustery day for sure, and this suits my mood perfectly.
Thank you for these words of yours Karilea~

Ya got the porch puppy to say IWIHWT....
so that ought to tell ya something
( he read the whole thing?) LOL
Love this bittersweet beauty Kari.
The wind still blows here today...me thinks its your muse saying hello

Words break into splinters on the pages I write
If I lost you I don't know what I'd do ...
Burn forever where the flame turns blue

Winter is still on cross country skies,
Pausing to sniff the wind.
Soon it will be slaloming with cries
scaring the leaves away.

Beautiful words, Karilea.  Ken

Through rubble and trouble and dark of night
The yawn of a dawn will hasten the light

'Wave Goodbye'--absolutely. Goodbye to summer as the wind blows it south with the leaves. I like your poem.
