Listening to every heart

It Is

It is a day for bells,
I would give you carillons to play
But might you think of places
Where mourning is overheard,
As cedar waxwings skirt trees
While a dance of bells occurs.

It is a day for light,
And I would draw away the gray
Though you might see the faces
Sensing feelings absurd
As kites would kiss the breeze
And dance a dance with birds.

It is a day for poems
To give the heart a gift of sway
Where all is all in one embrace
That an eye should caress a word
While a heart could thus be pleased,
As emotions would be stirred.

Is it such a day.
