I taste cigarettes,
the weight of one now,
though I haven't smoked
in a month and a half.

My eyes brim with images,
smoke trails of you.
I haven't been reminded
for three years or more.

If you brushed against me
in an aisle of the train,
I'd be unable to place
the action to you.

I wouldn't turn to see
who'd touched me in passing --
long forgotten your grip --
simply accidental.

And if you spoke up,
the train would tear down
the mistake of your careful,
mischosen words.

Riding out time,
station to station,
floating across
a mute cityscape.

Then under the shadow
of a brick building
outlaying the outskirts,
you would recede.

Escaping the city,
I'm watching you leave.
I look for a smoke
though my pockets are empty.

see you in level 7

and yer new picture is awsome

I won't accuse you of being a robot though...but really? are you?

Thanks, everyone! I'm humbled by your responses more than I let on.

And Wind, this is an older picture of me. I tried recently to upload a newer picture, but it kept crashing, so I decided, fine, older picture. I've got a goatee again, and this is the closest picture I have to signify that currently. Unfortunately, I have my old glasses in that pic (known among my friends as "Erotigoth the Fisherman"), but it will do.

And no, I am a robot not I am not a robot robot I am not a robot no I am not a.

And finally -- my mouth has been tasting like cigarettes all day. It's the smoke from the wildfires.

I preferred the Erotigoth pose too, Susan. What happened is I originally uploaded one pic, it never went through. So I tried again, didn't go through. So I sent along Erotigoth in its place -- and actually liked it better.

Then I guess the computer figured out which one I originally meant, and put that awful cheesy grin pic up. Horrified at the result, I quickly spirited myself away to the only place outside of PIP that i have any member pics. So this was a band-aid approach to getting rid of cheesy grin, because it unfortunately got rid of Erotigoth.

I wash my hands of the whole mess.

Thank you everyone, for reading and enjoying. PS, Meg and Gemma, a deep thanks.

Mike
