![]() Picture by Alan Ayers * * * I wrote this from my own personal experience with post natal depression. Depression is a serious illness and society needs to realise that the sufferer simply cannot "get over it" without a lot of help.I just felt the need to put my feelings down on paper and give people an insight into what it is like. * * * My early days of motherhood Weren't very kind to me Things did not run smoothly Not how they were meant to be Each day seemed such an effort As I struggled to find the sun I simply wasn't coping I felt the need to run I was trapped inside a well And I struggled to break free I was failing as a mother In the dark I could not see I led a life of confusion I would sit and cry all day My mother became my saviour With her was where I'd stay I had drifted down so deep Noone seemed to understand How I craved for my old life For someone to hold my hand Eventually I sought help To get my life back on track And within a few months I finally had my life back Depression is an illness It doesn't happen overnight I survived my darkest days And now I see the light I am in motion |

Post natal depression is often misunderstood and therefore goes untreated. I'm so pleased you saw your way back to the light. ~Smiles & Hugs, Nancy~ ~Time has cast a spell on you, |
