Straw blonde waifs,
feet of concrete
straining over
steele barricades as
they sway in sunlight,
beautiful dancers,
roadside crowdpleasers,
hearts on sleeves,
withering into car fumes
between the mileposts,
with their pipedreams
of applause

I like the feel of this...like a long ride
on a highway to who knows where...

Pipedreams?  I think we all have those.  I
know I have from time to time.

(smiles) Oh Michele, this is wonderful, sweet friend, I'd love to go on a joyride down the interstate too...OK...that sums it up, now...applause time! (standing ovation) God Bless You, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Michele, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Yes, yes, pipe dreams are a lot of hot air cranking the old tractor.

Wonderful!!!  (insert tongue in cheek)

Michele?

I saw tall sunflowers
standing high
yet unseen
quietly dying

*smile*
you do make me see . . .
this one ached
within your beautiful writing

Beauty is its own reason for being, and that is enough. For a short time it brings joy, and that is sufficient, I think.

Your poem brings it to life.
