Moved from a shack to a barn

I was visited last night
by a demon
who had slipped under the curtains
of an otherwise forgettable dream

Had he been sent?

Where he lurked
in the darkened wings
and skirted
the edges of the limelight

And if so, by who?

Tall, thin and acute in angle
he appeared skulking and stalking
until I caught his eye
to draw him out

And if not, why?

To stand before me
our hands and arms tangling
in a test of physical strength
that I could not possibly win

Perhaps he is mine

So, releasing my own hold
and bared to his gaze
I dared him inside
to battle my spirit

"In looking Northward, I see a light"

Dunno Linda, this was just the damnedest thing! I don't even remember dreams (not enough B6) But this? Very weird bordering on frightening.

Ugly sonovagun too!

Ed, I forgot to mention how much I like your photo! You are the handsomest yeti I've yet to see! Your eyes are amazing! (Hey, Sue, I meant that in the most innocent of manners! )

Now you've got me to wonderin'! I certainly hope that was just a nightmare!!!

Beware of things that go bump in the night!
I'm sending you some protective White Light!

Always invite the devil to lunch...
just make sure he picks up the tab.

Well done Wranx.  I saw what you left for

Had a dream like that once and he seemed to be made of rubber. Couldn't win. Good rite.

Another reason why I'm glad I have worked on Lucid Dreaming; things like that would visit all too often, and now they don't. If one did, I'd rewrite the dream and send him packing.

Which seemingly would deny me the opportunity to write an excellent poem, which you sure did here. That ain't a bad trade, one distrubing dream for one disturbingly solid poem, since one will fade and the other won't!

Appearances can be deceiving.

Demonic, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder.

It could have been benign or even friendly.

A really old gnarly loyal guard dog is still hard on the eyes.

It is afterall the time of year when the walls between worlds are thin.  Perhaps a friend sent a guardian and it was simply checking you out.

Ed, I love the new pix!
As for that demon dream? Perhaps some unfinished chores you've ignored? LOL, but you could charm the evil outta the devil, so I'll not worry 'bout you.

Yanno Wranx?...back when I was a hippie hell raiser, (now I'm an old hippie trying to still raise hell)...I used to have those "has to be real" dreams....I remember after a Martha Stewart type mushroom party back in 1969 and just couldn't sleep for some reason for two or three days, when I did finally go to sleep I had really weird dreams...I dreamed I was a school desk and there was some little prick carving his initials in my back.....I don't have those kind of dreams anymore...but I never see pitch black at night anymore????....and yes, I DO dream in color....

I'm getting ready to post a new write. Maybe your bad guy is somehow linked to what I've been through this week. Not the man in my poem, I haven't said anything to you yet, but it is truly evil. I will call you when I'm ready. I am spooked, because this writing of yours is exactly what I have experienced this week.
