Family

the center of it is this:
the three of you
are all the soul I have

each of you creates
a part of me
and all of me

remove you and
I am a clover stem
of no leaves

I am larger sometimes
bits of me run free
like wayward pups

but only for a time
and in the end
in the center of things

there is only me
only we
my three

I remember when I never referred to myself as anything but 'me and the boys'. This reminds me of those years. This is tender and loving, and I enjoyed it.

Nice poem. My family keeps getting smaller and smaller. I am down to one. Still have my memories.

I started copying my favorite lines... and had the entire poem highlighted. *S* This is beautiful, my friend. I love the contrast between the cavorting pup you can be and the stark emptiness you are without those you love... but most of all, I appreciate the love that centers you and shines in your words... wonderful write!!

Yes, what suthern says.  You depicted everything very well, the imagery was clear, and I especially liked the stanza,

remove you and
I am a clover stem
of no leaves

Well done!

Good one very much enjoyed, couldn't help but think how we're all family, or...we should think that way.  We're all related, so to speak, what happens to one, effects us all.  Thank you for the thoughts, and wishing you much happiness within yours. Love Lee J.
