Listening to every heart

0 posted 2003-10-29 11:04 AM

Aye, I hear you, breathing,
chilling nape of neck and bearing low
on this heart, that would dance, or sing,
as you creep, stilling limbs and thought,
aye, I feel you, clinging.

You are but an evil sty, tempting me
to hide in shadow, that you would render me
sightless, unconcerned, and fill me with reasoning
for why I would break my pen, and let my well
go dry; You, who are wickedly immortal,
having walked this earth too long, Be Gone.

That I dared to name you when I first recognized you,
casting hold on yet another,
one who weakened under your gaze,
who began to see you as haven, not knowing you are
but death to laughter, and joy, and song ~

Aye, that was when you thrust your sinful blackness
into mine own heart, squeezing breath and left me,
gasping for light, and air,
and all that could be right in this space
that I deign to occupy.

You mask your face wisely, believing glitter would
hold me, when I wouldst trounce darkness,
casting your breath aside, for though I seek whispers, I seek
it not in your name, nor your face, and despise
that I should have to spurn you

For I know of love, that it should be given freely,
and thus, you pale, with ragged gasp, that I would
deign to love you,
as evil and wicked as you are, but you might never know
unless you cast the black aside,
of tenderness, and rarity, nor the exquisite touch
of a beauteous hand to your beastly countenance.

Despair and sadness be your cloak and mask,
anguish be your horse, and gloom shall ever be your room, for
misery would wall you, and lost hope be that upon which
you dine, but not I, not I.  I shall not be your meal
this day, nor tomorrow, for you will find me

in dance with childhood, and ever well dip
into ink the pen, then draw the pen
to parchment, gift the parchment to souls,
that you should die a swift death,
that I may take a free breath,
and Live, within my
imagination.

Wow! That is quite the piece Sunshine. As I was reading it I kept seeing a shadow standing in the middle of a darken stage and the spotlight upon you as you blast out your solioquy. (Dang did I speel that right.) Oh well I am too lazy this morning to look it up in the dictionary. I've only had 2 1/2 hours sleep in the last 48 hours. LOL! Dang insomnia. Well done my friend!

Remember, if you're not part of the future, you're history!

This is haunting... in the very best sense of the word. Absolutely beautiful, Sunshine. You do know how to weave a marvelous tapestry of words.

Sadly, this eases my pain and cushions the blow.   I suppose because often times I feel like I'm the only one who has ever been burned.  NOT, I know, but it feels like you
just opened the flood gates and let her rip!

Karilea~ You are such a fine poetess.
Thank you so much for this!!!

Bluesy, that's what we need to do, sometimes - open the flood gates and let 'er rip.  I'm glad you found something in this...there should always be something for everyone.

Martie, I couldn't agree more.  Thank you, dear friend.

Linda, a very kind comment.  Thank you.

Ed, you're quite the weaver yourself.  Write on!

Ericc, smiling back.  Thank you.

Thank you, Dixie

Logan, I don't do well dwelling in darkness very long - for some reason, a silver lining always shows through.  I'll never be a Stephen King, that's for sure!

Thank you for stopping by, Marty!

Susie...as well it should...if it made you aware of any kind of feeling, then I know I did it right.  Thanks for reading.

Evocative, perhaps the right person could read these words and cause a chill down another's back.  We'll have to try that sometime at a reading, you think?

Donna, you are more than welcome.  Just remember, we can always find our way out.  Even if we have to hug someone...

Well blow me away why don't you.

Very powerful Karilea.

Love it!

keeping it too.
