A verbal punch to the gut
Back handed her with profane
Battered she could not remain
The words her soul did cut
Bleeding left in cold rain.

exit young female child of about 13,
crying and without a coat into a darkened alleyway

and "hurts" is all
that comes to mind.

First part of poem story very sad, needs to be closer to second part, where see that kindness of heart you have.
