I've spent lots of hours, daydreaming along- Just watchin' some critter's behind. My mind just a'wanderin', off far and alone. A cowboy lives in his mind. My body a'freezin' in sleet and in snow. While trying some heifer to find... She might be a'calvin', where icy winds blow... I'm warm and secure in my mind. I am a romantic, a dreamer and such- And very small pleasure I find... In haying, dehorning, or cuttin' bullcalves, My real world is found in my mind. I dream of a princess, a castle, rich fare... A life that is gentle and kind. My hands are uncalloused, and so is my butt, But this is all found in my mind. Call me a cowboy, and you said it right. A victim of dawn to dark grind... Inside i'm a courtin' some damsel so fine, A Cowboy lives in his mind. |

Howdy cowboy, long-time-no-read your brand of poetry. An enjoyable write, John. Hope the trails have been kind to you. |
