That night I recall in vision so clear,
I was only twelve or so.
A nightly routine of kissing Dad on the cheek
Then off to bed I would go.
That old house with the built in stairwell
That seemed so very, very closed in
And I with my hand on the door
Opened it and took the first step in.

Somehow, for some strange reason
That night was the night that it did begin,
and then it began to happen
not once, but again and again...
A sensation, yes it was the first
but by far not the last
of this floating up the stairs
onto myself my eyes were cast.

A struggle to pull myself down
To where my feet could touch the wood
Yes, it frightened me some,
But yet I couldn’t help wonder if it should….

There were many times that followed that first night
When I seemed to float upon the air
It had become a regular occurrence
But I was afraid this story with others to share.

It was midnight when she woke me up…
She thought I was merely having a dream
But I know what happened that night
I was floating above me again it seemed.
It was so very different on this night
It had never quite happened this way before
Usually it would start down at the foot
Of the stairways by the upstairs door.

Oh, how I was frightened that night,
Like I had to pull me back into me
But now it doesn’t seem so scarey
Sometimes I wonder if it was just a spirit
Learning to be free…

Those days have long since passed
It happened mainly in my youth
And those other events that have happened
Can never be proven as being the truth.
That was the end of the ‘floating’
But the beginning of the ‘dreams’
The visions so vivid in my mind
Previewing to me those ‘tomorrow scenes.’

Some people call them premonitions
Although sometimes to me they were a worry
Alas, that’s another time and place
And held within is it’s own story…..

Donna, not only are you "Gentle" but you are full of light and "Spirit". You truly are a spirit in human form and that spirit longs to be free. Do not be afraid to give it the rein it needs during your hours of "sleep".

Your intuitiveness and sensitivity enable you to be the creative soul that you are--as is evident in your beautiful poetic works.

Since our collaboration I knew in my heart of hearts that you and I are kindred spirits.
